“I nor fit help Nnamdi Kanu from opposition” — Cubana Chiefpriest Defends APC Alliance Amid Backlash

Popular socialite and entrepreneur, Cubana Chiefpriest, has spoken out amid mounting criticism over his open support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that real political influence can only be exercised from within the ruling structure, not the opposition.

His response follows a viral call-out by social critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), who questioned Chiefpriest’s involvement with a political support group backing President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027, despite the continued detention of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

VDM shared a video showing Chiefpriest alongside other members of the support group during a meeting with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, a key APC figure. He accused the socialite of hypocrisy, recalling a November 2025 post in which Chiefpriest warned that the APC would struggle to secure even 10,000 votes in the South-East if Nnamdi Kanu remained in custody.

In that earlier post, Chiefpriest had described Kanu as the “Supreme Leader of the South-East,” arguing that his release was crucial to winning the region’s support in the 2027 presidential election.

Reacting to the renewed criticism, Chiefpriest, in a series of Instagram story posts, said he could not help secure Kanu’s release while operating from the opposition. According to him, influence comes from proximity to power.

“I nor fit help Nnamdi Kanu from opposition,” he said, stressing that engagement within the ruling party offers a better chance of pushing critical issues.

He clarified that he has always been an APC member, though he openly supported Labour Party candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 general election. Looking ahead to 2027, Chiefpriest said he would actively work for President Tinubu’s re-election.

The celebrity businessman also revealed his political ambition, disclosing plans to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.

His comments have further fuelled debate online, especially among South-East youths, with reactions sharply divided between those who see his stance as pragmatic politics and others who view it as political convenience over principle.
