Tragedy in Ogwashi Uku Delta State: Four Children Abducted in Delta State Community

The Ogwashi Uku community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into confusion and heartbreak over the weekend following the abduction of four young children.

The missing children include six-year-old Ebube Nwafido and her three-year-old sister, Miracle—both siblings from the same parents. Also abducted are seven-year-old Chimanda and five-year-old Excel, popularly known as "Tinubu," from two other families in the area.

According to reports from the community, the children were last seen in Umuokwe Quarters, where the incident occurred. Residents have raised suspicion against three women who had recently moved into the neighborhood, securing emergency accommodation on Monday, April 14, 2025.

Sources say the women allegedly lured the children on Friday, April 18, under the pretense of taking them to a nearby supermarket to buy biscuits.

Mrs. Bose Nwafido, mother of Ebube and Miracle, recounted her chilling encounter with the suspects:

“It was last Monday when the three women came asking me for a house to rent. I pointed them in a direction, but moments later, one of them came back and said she drank Pepsi and zobo and that she was having a running stomach; she asked to use our toilet.
I took the lady to the back of our house where she defecated in a bush. Afterwards, she told me she was going to withdraw money from a POS to pay for the accommodation.
The lady later came back when I left for the market and took my 10-year-old son, Ifechukwude, to see their house. That’s when they started showing kindness to the children. Unbeknownst to many, they had evil plans.”

Mrs. Nwafido explained that she left home on Friday morning for a program, instructing her children to stay within the compound as usual. Around noon, some neighborhood children reported that “the aunty” wanted to buy biscuits for them. That was the last time the children were seen.

When neighbors noticed the prolonged absence of the children, they went to the suspects’ apartment—only to find it completely empty. The women and the children had vanished without a trace.

Ebube and Miracle’s parents, Kingsley and Bose Nwafido, are devastated and struggling to come to terms with the traumatic disappearance of their daughters.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are currently underway.
