*"I Won’t Be Distracted" — President Tinubu Stands Firm Amid Growing Criticism of His Policies

Despite facing increasing criticism from different parts of the country over his policies, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made it clear that he remains firmly focused on doing what is right for Nigeria and its people.

The President gave this assurance during a public event held in Abuja on Tuesday, May 13, where he was represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

During his speech, the Minister, speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, acknowledged that many Nigerians have expressed their dissatisfaction and frustration with some of the decisions and reforms introduced by his administration. However, the President wants Nigerians to know that he is committed to long-term progress, not short-term popularity.

“The president welcomes constructive criticism at all times in the spirit of freedom of speech and democratic engagement, but he will also never allow himself to be distracted from doing what is right for Nigeria,” the minister said.

This statement reflects President Tinubu’s belief that criticism is a natural part of democracy and governance. According to him, everyone has the right to speak up, to question policies, and to express their views—especially in a democratic country like Nigeria. He is open to feedback, especially when it is meant to help improve governance and bring positive change.

But at the same time, the President is drawing a line. He is sending a strong message that while he listens to the voices of the people, he will not let negative attacks or political distractions stop him from carrying out his responsibilities.

The Tinubu administration has recently introduced several economic and structural reforms which have sparked debates across the country. While some Nigerians believe these changes are necessary to fix the economy, others have raised concerns about the immediate effects on daily life, especially for ordinary citizens. Despite this tension, the President wants Nigerians to understand that his focus remains on the bigger picture—to rebuild the country’s economy, strengthen national institutions, and ensure a better future for all.

In summary, President Tinubu is asking for patience, understanding, and continued engagement from citizens. He welcomes open and honest conversations, but he is also determined not to lose sight of what he believes is best for Nigeria.
