Man Nabbed for Allegedly Stealing N20 Million Worth of Human Hair in Lagos
A man has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly stealing human hair worth a whopping N20 million in a daring traffic robbery on the CMS-Marina Bridge.
According to the Lagos State Police, detectives from the Ebute-Ero Division swung into action after receiving a tip-off about a robbery that took place while a truck was in motion. The gang reportedly made away with a large sack of assorted human hair, which the driver didn't even realize had been stolen during the transit.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, saying:
“On April 25, 2025, a criminal gang stole a large sack filled with assorted human hairs valued at approximately N20 million from a moving truck, unknown to the driver, while in transit along the CMS-Marina Bridge.”
Acting on the tip, officers quickly rushed to the scene and managed to arrest one of the suspects, Austine, at the Marina car park under the bridge. He was caught with the stolen items and had sustained injuries after jumping from the bridge in an attempt to escape.
Hundeyin explained that Austine is now receiving medical treatment under police watch, while efforts are ongoing to track down the rest of the gang members.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reassured Lagosians of the police’s commitment to keeping roads safe. He also urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity, saying:
“The Command remains unwavering in its determination to ensure the safety of all road users across the state.”
