Mystery in Lagos: 26-Year-Old Banker Goes Missing on His Way Home from Work – Family in Distress

The family of a young banker, 26-year-old Osemudiamen Idemudia, has been thrown into deep worry and confusion following his sudden and unexplained disappearance while returning home from work. Osemudiamen, who was known to be diligent and responsible, has not been seen or heard from since the evening of Friday, May 9, 2025, raising serious concern among his loved ones and colleagues.

In an exclusive conversation with Punch Newspaper on Wednesday, May 14, Osemudiamen’s father, Mr. Julius Idemudia, opened up about the heart-wrenching situation that has left the entire family in turmoil.

According to Mr. Idemudia, his son, who works in the Point-of-Sale (POS) Unit of a well-known bank in Lagos, had a regular start to his day on Friday, May 9. He resumed work that morning at his branch located in Ikota, Lagos. However, after the close of business, Osemudiamen, along with one of his colleagues, made plans to go to the bank’s head office at CMS on Lagos Island for a scheduled appointment with a senior staff member.

The father explained that while the two bankers were en route to the head office, they received a call from the senior official informing them that the meeting would no longer hold and had been rescheduled to the following Monday.

Despite the cancellation, Osemudiamen and his colleague continued their journey to CMS. Upon getting there, they decided to go their separate ways and head home individually.

But that was the last time anyone saw or heard from Osemudiamen.

“Osemudiamen has been missing since Friday, May 9. He resumed at his office in Ikota that morning and later planned to go to the head office with a colleague after work for an appointment they had with a senior staff member. However, while they were on their way, the official called to say he wouldn’t be able to see them until Monday,” his father, Mr. Julius Idemudia, said.

“When they eventually got to CMS, they parted ways. As usual, Osemudiamen was expected to board a bus to Iyana Ipaja, and from there, take another bus to Igando. But when it started getting late and we hadn’t heard from him, we became worried. After 24 hours of no contact, we raised the alarm. Since then, we haven’t heard from him. Our hearts are heavy with worry. This is so unlike him, and we are deeply concerned for his safety and well-being.”

The father described the fear that gripped the family as time passed and there was still no word from their son. He stated that Osemudiamen's disappearance is completely out of character, as he has always maintained regular communication with his family.

As the hours turned into days, the family knew something was wrong. They reported the matter to the authorities, hoping that steps would be taken to find him quickly.

“We have reported the case of a missing person at the Igando Police Station and efforts are ongoing to meet with the Chief Security Officer of the bank for further probe on his disappearance,” Mr. Idemudia added.

The Igando Police Station, which covers the Akesan area where Osemudiamen lives, has since begun preliminary investigations into the case. The family is also actively seeking assistance from the bank's internal security team in hopes that surveillance footage or internal reports might offer a clue.

This incident has not only left the Idemudia family in deep distress but has also sparked growing concerns among friends, colleagues, and community members who are now calling for increased attention to the case.

As of now, there has been no communication, no signs, and no leads regarding Osemudiamen’s whereabouts. His family continues to appeal to the public, anyone with helpful information, and relevant authorities to come forward and assist in locating him.

The story of Osemudiamen's disappearance adds to a growing list of mysterious cases of young Nigerians who have vanished without a trace, often during routine daily activities. It highlights once again the urgent need for improved security systems and faster response to missing person reports in Nigeria.
