Pastor Mistakes Immigration Officers for Robbers, Shoots Two in Abuja
There was panic in the Sabon Iddo area of Abuja on Friday night, May 9, 2025, after two immigration officers were shot by a man identified as Pastor Darlington, who mistook them for armed robbers. The pastor is now on the run.
According to police sources who spoke with security analyst Zagazola Makama, the shooting happened around 10:00 p.m., while the officers—Oyomide Zion and Hakeem Mashood—were carrying out routine patrol duties in the area.
Later, at about 11:40 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Iddo Division received a distress call and quickly sent patrol teams to the scene.
When police arrived, another immigration officer, Uduk James, informed them that his two colleagues had been shot.
The injured officers were rushed to the Nigerian Air Force Base Hospital in Abuja, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Police say they are doing everything possible to track down the suspect, who is known as Pastor Darlington and currently at large.
"Efforts to track and arrest the fleeing suspect, identified as Pastor Darlington alias, have been intensified," said a police source.
