Tragic Loss in Katsina: Traditional Title Holder Malam Sani Dandada Killed by Bandits Despite Ransom Payment

 

In a deeply saddening turn of events, bandits have reportedly killed Malam Sani Dandada, the respected traditional title holder known as the Madawakin Fawa of Faskari in Katsina State. This tragic incident has shaken the local community and brought renewed attention to the ongoing security challenges in the region.

Malam Sani Dandada was abducted on April 19, 2025, while returning from a trip to Daura, a nearby town. The circumstances surrounding his kidnapping have left many in shock, especially as his family and community hoped for a safe return. Efforts were made swiftly to negotiate his release, including the payment of the full ransom demanded by his kidnappers.

Despite these efforts and the payment of the ransom, the bandits cruelly failed to release him. The devastating news was confirmed by security analyst Bakatsine on Friday, May 16. Speaking on the heartbreaking development, Bakatsine said, “Despite the full ransom being paid, his abductors never released him. Yesterday, his family was devastated to learn that he had been killed.”

This tragic incident highlights the ongoing and escalating threat posed by armed bandits in parts of northern Nigeria.
