Super Eagles Star Stanley Nwabali Parts Ways with Chippa United – Next Big Move Incoming?

South African club Chippa United has officially confirmed the departure of Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, following the 29-year-old’s formal request to leave the Eastern Cape–based side.

In a statement released on 5 February 2026, Chippa United thanked Nwabali for his years of service, praising his professionalism, commitment, and impact on the team.

“We sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career,”   the club stated.

Nwabali’s exit marks the end of a key chapter in his club career. Since joining Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022, he established himself as a reliable shot-stopper in the South African Premiership, earning him a breakthrough with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The goalkeeper was Nigeria’s first-choice keeper during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, helping the team reach the final with a series of commanding performances. He also played a central role in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, where Nigeria finished third.

Before moving abroad, Nwabali built his reputation in the Nigeria Professional Football League, known for his consistency and resilience between the posts.

While Chippa United has not revealed his next destination, his availability is expected to attract attention from clubs across Africa and beyond, given his international experience and recent form.

For the club, Nwabali leaves a big gap in goal, while for the goalkeeper, the move represents another strategic step in a career built on performance and persistence rather than hype.
