Devastating Kidnapping in Nasarawa: Newlywed Man Fatally Shot, Wife Abducted
A tragic incident has rocked the Akaleku community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where unidentified gunmen—believed to be kidnappers—attacked a newly married couple, leaving the husband dead and abducting his wife.
The attack took place on the night of Wednesday, April 23, 2025, barely eleven days after the couple tied the knot on April 12.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants appeared to have deliberately targeted the couple in a planned and calculated strike. The groom, identified simply as Allu, was reportedly shot dead at the scene, while his wife was taken by force to an unknown location.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt in an effort to locate the perpetrators and rescue the abducted woman.
The community has been left in deep mourning, as friends, neighbors, and family members struggle to come to terms with the shocking loss. Local leaders and human rights advocates have condemned the act in strong terms, calling on the Nasarawa State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and ensure the safe return of the kidnapped victim.
