BREAKING: Bandits Abduct Petrol Dealer and Manager in Kwara Community
There is rising tension in Gbugbu community, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, after bandits kidnapped a well-known petrol dealer, Alhaji Abbas, along with his manager, Abubakar Issa, on Friday, May 9, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack happened just as the two men were heading home after closing business for the day at the Daniyan Saba Global Investment filling station in Gbugbu.
The armed bandits, who reportedly arrived on motorcycles, launched a violent assault and even set fire to Alhaji Abbas’s vehicle during the operation.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time Alhaji Abbas has faced such danger.
"This is not the first time Alhaji Abbas has been attacked," a source familiar with the situation disclosed. “The fact that they targeted him again, and this time successfully abducted him along with his manager, is deeply worrying.”
Eyewitnesses said the attackers fled into a nearby forest, which many believe is being used as their hideout.
The latest abduction has left the Gbugbu community in fear, with residents calling on security agencies and the Kwara State Government to take urgent action to stop the rising insecurity in the area.
One concerned resident, who didn’t want to be named, highlighted how the insecurity could also hurt farming and food supply.
"We are entering the rainy season, and our farmers need to go to their farmlands," the eyewitness lamented. "If this insecurity continues to loom over us, it will force them to abandon their farms, which will have severe consequences for our community."
This worrying incident adds to growing fears that insecurity in Edu LGA may worsen if no immediate steps are taken to protect lives and property.
