EFCC Arrests Ex-Lawmaker Muhammad Kazaure in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Kazaure, in Kano State.

According to Punch, Kazaure was invited by the EFCC to their office in Kano. He honored the invitation, but was arrested and later flown to Abuja on Wednesday.

As of now, the EFCC has not released an official statement, and the reason for Kazaure's arrest remains unknown.

Kazaure represented the Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, and Yankwashi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Over the years, Kazaure has been outspoken on national issues, especially on matters of insecurity and corruption. He previously accused former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, of corruption.

In fact, on December 17, 2022, the CBN publicly denied Kazaure’s claims that “N89.09 trillion in stamp duty collections had been diverted” and that Emefiele kept “$171 billion in the bank’s private investors’ account as proceeds of stamp duty.”
