Gym Attack in Poland: Nigerian Man Released After Drug-Induced Rage
A 21-year-old Nigerian man has been released without serving prison time after attacking another man at a gym in Katowice, Poland.
The Nigerian, identified as Princewill Dominic, struck a 23-year-old victim with a 20-kilogram exercise hammer in February 2025.
The police quickly responded to the scene, arresting a “very agitated and aggressive” Dominic, according to the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice, as reported by the Dziennik Zachodni news portal.
It reportedly took six officers to subdue Dominic, while the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Sources say the Katowice Poludnie District Prosecutor's Office later decided to discontinue the investigation into Dominic for attempted murder.
The victim managed to avoid the full force of the hammer, but still sustained an injury to his upper back. Thankfully, the injury was not severe, causing only a temporary disruption to his health for less than seven days.
Although Dominic was detained for three months, he has since been released.
The prosecutor’s report clarified that no crime had been committed because Dominic was not in control of his actions at the time. The court ruled that he was “incapable of recognizing the meaning of his actions and directing them” due to being under the influence of drugs. As a result, Dominic was considered legally insane and could not be tried for his actions.
