Tension in Benue: Passengers Missing After Highway Incident Involving Commercial Bus

 




Two people have lost their lives, and four others are missing after a commercial bus was intercepted by suspected kidnappers along the Adoka-Otukpo road in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday, May 4.

According to reports, the bus was traveling from Abuja to Otukpo when it was attacked around 8 p.m. The assailants reportedly stopped the vehicle and targeted its remaining occupants, leading to the unfortunate death of the driver and one passenger, while four others were taken away.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, Maxwell Ogiri, stated:

“The vehicle was coming from Abuja to Otukpo and the majority of the passengers alighted in Adoka. Only six people remained in the vehicle and were intercepted along Adoka Otukpo road, two people were killed and four passengers were abducted.”

Ogiri also confirmed that the matter has been reported to the police for further investigation.
